Lesson 11

Today we focused on typography. We learnt about its importance in design and how useful it can be to get a message across.

Here are some examples of good typography.

What these advertisements have in common is the appeal, although all of them use typography in a different way. The first one uses a creative method of using fruits to write out the message, the colours are also very bright and nice to attract attention, The second one uses a very strong type of writing to show a serious message yet there is also humour in it. The last one uses typography as art.

These two pictures show bad typography as everything is squeezed together and there is no plan to it just making it look messy.

The second one because there is more emphasis on the main words to catch the attention of viewers. For example the word “WIN” is very big and viewers would see it and get interested compared to the first one that seems very monotonous. _________________________________________

Bad typography as emphasis is wrong and does not make sense.







Good typography as the message can be read and understood as the emphasis on the words are correct.





In conclusion typography is a very effective tool if used right, however if used wrongly, it can deter customers or viewers. Following the 8 fundamentals of typography can be a very good gauge if you are on the right track when using typography in an advertisement
