By now I can say that I am at least quite used to the software and is getting the hang of it. Last time in lesson 4, we were tasked with tracing and filling the dog with colours. It was difficult at first as mentioned but i slowly got the hang of things. However the colours used was just basic filling without any proper shading. This made it look a bit fake and unrealistic. Hence we were thought how to use gradient.
We started off with drawing just regular shapes to get us going. For the filling, we started off using 2 colours. What we had to do was drag the colour down into the gradient bar and put them in opposite ends. From there colours can be adjusted with the slider.

Four ways i used the gradient,
The first shape, the rectangle, i used two different contrasting colours.
The second shape, the ellipse i used two different shades of blue.
The third shape, the polygon, i used the gradient tool to make the shading of colour in a 45 degree angle
And the last one, the rounded edge rectangle, i used the radial method.
Next, similar to the dog, we were handed a sketch to trace and and fill, except this time using gradient. This was the sketch

After tracing, i had a small problem when filling the colours, the colours did not seem to match on the different body parts of the ant. The reason being that i used many different layers to trace the different parts therefore the colour shading and gradient that i used on the head may not necessarily match anther part such as the body. This made me have to manually adjust the different parts to match each other using the gradient tool. This was what I came up with.

Just for fun, i went back home and did one more myself, this time using the radial type since i used the linear type for the ant above. Just having a little fun i came up with this.

In conclusion today there was not as much work or lessons as the previous time but this was no easy task still. We learnt what i feel will be a very important tool in our future designs. One more thing we did today, today we also decided on what we are going to do for our major project, an advertisement design. I chose to do one for my favourite car brand jaguar. Definitely more information will be coming up soon relating to this.
